On a sunny afternoon in October, a different kind of excursion took place for children Sterneninsel instead of. This afternoon, 8 children and 4 carers were able to immerse themselves in the world of scrap car recycling at the Schirdewan company on Wilferdinger Höhe in Pforzheim. Company boss Jürgen Hudelmaier and his team led our group through the entire company complex in a child-friendly manner.
The children experienced first-hand the gigantic car press in which the decommissioned vehicles were pressed live into handy packages with great fanfare.
After this spectacle, which was extraordinary for everyone involved, two large tow trucks drove into the yard to invite all the children for a little ride in the heavy trucks. Noah (reliant on a wheelchair) was also quickly lifted into the truck by the Schirdewan employees and was allowed to sit in a prominent position next to the driver. The trip went to the parking lot of the truck cranes, lifting platforms and forklifts. The next attractions were waiting for our group there. Girls and boys gathered their courage and were able to experience and try out huge mobile cranes, lifting platforms and forklifts up close under the supervision of Schirdewan employees. After all the vehicles and cranes had been extensively tested by the children, we went back to the company headquarters. Of course, so much adventure makes you hungry, so at the end there was grilled sausage and drinks for the entire group.
Everyone was enthusiastic about the extraordinary insights into the work of the Schirdewan company. A special thank you goes to the entire team around Jürgen Hudelmaier for the uncomplicated and sensitive design of this special excursion.
